Tuesday, January 17th, 2012

Happy New Year everyone!  Looking back we had a great year with record attendance at all the shows and a fab presentation night – even though we were technically not supposed to be “dancing on ice”.  Well done to Janet & Storm for their Supreme Championship win!

Looking forward we have a few more months of mud (hopefully), sprinkled with a few flatwork clinics with the usual suspects & then the Competition Season begins!

Details are as follows: (more…)

Club news – August and September 2011

Tuesday, August 16th, 2011

It’s by now traditional for me to comment on the recent events and the prevailing weather – so here goes!! Both the June and July Shows were completed in sweltering heat – well done to everyone who stayed the course and even more so to those who still wore their jackets, especially in June! And to the ODE/Dressage – well done to everyone who braved the rain – especially the July date. Don’t you just love global warming…

Don’t forget the August Show is on Sunday 21st, quickly followed by the next Mini ODE & Dressage on Sunday 28th August. Again, the course will be available to hire (for the princely sum of £10 per hour) or to walk on Saturday 27th. Entries close on Wednesday 24th and times will be available on Friday 26th from 4pm – 8pm on 07980 135 519. We will also have them on the website by Friday. Note this date is missing from the published schedule but it is still going ahead. Tests are BD Intro A, P10, P12 (ODE), N28 & E42.

All competitors for the Mini ODE should note that your XC phase will follow on immediately from your SJ Phase. You should therefore compete the SJ phase in your XC colours and kit.

Good Luck to everyone!!

Club news – June to July 2011

Monday, June 6th, 2011

The first show of the season got off to a flying start – even though we all almost blew away. Thanks to all who attended despite the wind!

Unfortunately the weather again didn’t smile upon us for the Charity Fancy Dress Treasure Hunt on Bank Holiday Monday. Although we all got soaked to the skin, the Clown, the Witch and the Cave-woman (amongst others) still managed to raise a few smiles around the village as well as £370 for the Haemophilia Society. Typical British liquid summer!

Next up is the Mini ODE & Dressage on Sunday 12th June. The course will be available to hire (for the princely sum of £10 per hour) or to walk on Saturday 11th. Entries close on Wednesday 8th and times will be available on Friday 10th from 4pm – 8pm on 07980 135 519. We will also try to have them on the website by Friday too. All competitors for the Mini ODE should note that your XC phase will follow on immediately from your SJ Phase. You should therefore compete the SJ phase in your XC colours and kit.

Good Luck to everyone!!

Club news – April to May 2011

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

Finally, the clocks have sprung forward giving us lots of extra light to play with! The winter coats are coming off both horse and rider and it’s time to polish the boots and the hooves and get some Showing under way!

As ever, Homestead has oodles of clinics with our almost resident coaches, Richard, Adele, Bev and Mark. New for this year are the ‘Showing and Dressage’ master-classes with Karen Hurrion. Karen is a local show and dressage judge and will no doubt have lots of tips to help you get that ‘sparkle’ for extra points at the Championship Shows and the Dressage events! Ring Tracy to book as usual.

Happy New Year to everyone! First of all – well done to all those winning trophies for the Championships and well done to Megan Howson & Casper for winning the HSL Overall Championship for the 2nd year running!

After a “cancelled due to bad weather” December it’s all go again… We have a number of clinics coming up over the next 3 months to get you and your ned back into work and fit for the summer events!

Club news – October & November 2010

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

The August and September events were once again well attended, with everyone who attended enjoying the Dressage and Combined Training and the two Show Cross days. The September show went well despite the cold wind and we had a few who actually dared to put on their bling and enter the first Homestead Concours d’Elegance – brilliant effort to all who entered!

All in all we have had a great competition season and the scores are currently being accumulated (see the web site for final class totals) for the Presentation Evening on Saturday 13th November at The Owl, Hambleton. Don’t forget if you are not there you forfeit your trophy to the next highest placed combination!

In the meantime the next dates for your diaries are as follows:

Club news – August & September 2010

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

Thanks again to the great weather we have had the June & July Shows were very well attended – despite the World Cup clash in June. It has also been great to see a huge increase in the number of spectators as well!

The Dressage & CT in June was also a great success with almost 40 entries as was the Show Cross in early July. The new XC fences have been very well received, and the events so far have been a great opportunity to “have-a-go”, with no time or elimination pressure!

Club news – June & July 2010

Sunday, June 6th, 2010

What a sizzling start to the showing season on 23rd May! Attendance at the first show of the season was fantastic helped along by the weather of course. The 1st show cross day was also a great success with the new XC jumps arriving in the nick of time. For June we have dressage and the June championship show and July sees the start of the Thursday evening show jumping, more show cross and the July championship show. So lots to prepare for with a new batch of clinics – but remember book early to avoid disappointment…
